Shuford Mills becomes a major domestic textile producer, manufacturing a broad range of spun yarns and cordage

1955
Shuford Mills creates tape division


1960
Shuford Mills begins supplying Melvin A. Anderson Company with tape for the retail market

1971
Jack Kahl buys Melvin A Anderson Company and creates Manco
1972
Duct tape expands and moves production to Stony Point, NC, where it remains today

1980
Jack Kahl registers the Duck Tape® brand name


1996
Shurtape Technologies and Shurtape Brand created and spun out as separate company from Shuford Mills

1997
New hot melt packaging tapes facility is built in Hudson, NC
1998
Manco is acquired by Henkel GMBH to form Henkel Consumer Adhesives

2000
Hot melt masking, foil & gaffers tape facility is added in Hickory, NC


2000
Shurtape acquires Kip GMBH, a Germany-based provider of painters’ tapes

2003
Shurtape establishes China converting division in Songjiang, China
2004
Shurtape acquires the manufacturing assets of Tape Specialties Limited (Canada) and the arts & entertainment assests of Permacel

2006
Product development and innovation capabilities are significantly increased with the addition of a new, expanded facility on Highland Avenue in Hickory, NC


2008
Shurtape adds coating capability in China with a new facility in Changshu

2009
Former Manco assets (including Duck® and Painters Mate® brands) are acquired from Henkel to form ShurTech Brands, LLC
2010
FrogTape® brand is acquired from Inspired Technologies

2015
T-REX® is added to the company’s brand portfolio


2017
Syntac Coated Products acquired, forming Custom Division

2020
All companies transitioned to corporate Shurtape Technologies, LLC, name and brand

2022
Long-time partner, Pro Tapes & Specialties, acquired
