In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, FrogTape® brand painter's tape partnered with Special Spaces, Inc., a national nonprofit dedicated to creating dream bedroom makeovers for children battling cancer, to transform the bedroom of Tessa, a Northeast Ohio child facing cancer treatment. Designed around her love of cats and reading, the newly created "Cat Book Castle" bedroom provides a personalized space filled with comfort, imagination and joy.
The project is part of the ongoing partnership with FrogTape and Special Spaces, through which the brand serves as the organization's Official Painter's Tape and national sponsor. In addition to providing painter's tape for dream bedroom transformations across the country, FrogTape supports the nonprofit through financial contributions and employee volunteer efforts, helping advance the mission of Special Spaces, changing children's lives one bedroom at a time.
The room transformation was completed by FrogTape team members and Special Spaces volunteers, who worked together to create a space uniquely tailored to Tessa's interests. From cat-inspired design elements to a new Little Free Library® that allows her to share her love of reading with neighbors and friends, every detail was designed to reflect her personality and create a place where she can relax, recharge and simply enjoy being a kid.
"Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder of the strength and resilience shown by children and families facing cancer every day," said Mary Kate Hearns, Senior Product Manager at Shurtape Technologies. "We're proud to support Special Spaces as its Official Painter's Tape sponsor and to roll up our sleeves alongside the organization to help bring these dream bedrooms to life. Projects like Tessa's remind us of the meaningful impact a community can make when it comes together for a child and family in need."
Now in the third year of the partnership, FrogTape has seen firsthand the impact Special Spaces has on children and families navigating pediatric cancer. Locally, FrogTape volunteers have contributed more than 1,550 volunteer hours and helped complete four dream bedrooms and six sibling room refreshes since 2022, demonstrating the power of purpose-driven volunteerism and recognizing the impact childhood cancer has on the entire family.
"We start every dream bedroom makeover with FrogTape painter's tape, and we're grateful for the partnership that helps make these transformations possible," said Erica Matisz, Cleveland Chapter Director of Special Spaces. "Creating personalized dream bedrooms gives children a place where they can simply be kids, surrounded by the things they love most. Together, we're helping bring comfort, hope and joy to families facing pediatric cancer across the country."
Special Spaces has completed more than 2,000 dream bedroom makeovers for children battling cancer across the United States, creating personalized spaces that provide comfort during treatment and recovery. Through its partnership with Special Spaces, FrogTape helps ensure more families can experience those meaningful moments when they matter most.
