FrogTape® Paintover Challenge® Crowns Double the DIY Talent in 10th Anniversary Contest

Celebrating a decade of design-inspired makeovers, the FrogTape® Paintover Challenge® has declared not one, but two, winners in its ultimate home DIY contest. This year’s challenge invited 10 popular DIY influencers to transform their spaces using just $1,000 and FrogTape® brand painter’s tape for a chance to win up to $10,000 in prizes –honoring the contest’s 10th anniversary. Kelsey Berry of Charlotte, North Carolina, takes home the People’s Choice Award, as selected by online voters, for her color-drenched home office makeover, while Toya Cheri of Benton, Louisiana, is the recipient of the new GOAT Award: Greatest of Advanced Tape. Cheri was selected by an internal panel of judges to win the GOAT designation for the exceptional craftsmanship and use of the new FrogTape Advanced™ Painter’s Tape demonstrated in her textured staircase makeover.

Berry impressed online voters by transforming a dull, cluttered home office into a creative and cozy, University of North Carolina-themed workspace with on-trend color-drenching and varied sheens. The room was completed by an argyle pattern that she tediously painted by hand with the help of FrogTape® Delicate Surface Painter’s Tape for clean lines.

“For a while, I considered this space a lost cause, but with the help of some paint and painter’s tape, I was able to take it from cluttered chaos to a classy work zone,” Berry said. “I was excited to give my husband the home office he deserved, and now it’s a space that we both love.”

Cheri stepped up her style, grabbing the judge’s attention, with a modern Mediterranean-inspired staircase makeover featuring a custom wood arch, limewashed walls, and classic trim. Her skilled handiwork and use of the new FrogTape Advanced™ Painter’s Tape, which offers elevated performance when it comes to conformability around tricky curves and contours, earned her the GOAT Award. Cheri used the ultra-premium painter’s tape to achieve super-sharp paint lines around her arch and banister.

“This project was a reminder of how important it is to create spaces in our homes that bring us peace and keep us inspired, inside and out,” Cheri said. “It was so rewarding to see the details in my head come to life even more beautifully than I had imagined.”

Berry and Cheri’s impressive room transformations earned each creator a $5,000 cash prize and a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Berry’s donation will be made to Claire’s Army, an organization that helps families fighting childhood cancer by supporting their daily responsibilities with care packages, meals and financial assistance, allowing them to put time and focus on their child. Cheri will make her donation to support The Headstrong Project, a non-profit mental health organization providing confidential, barrier-free, and stigma-free PTSD treatment to veterans, service members and family connected to their care.
