Hickory, N.C. (June 2018) – Shurtape Technologies was recently deemed one of 25 designees recognized by the WellBusiness Advisory Council for their exceptional efforts to promote and support employee wellness. Shurtape received a bronze level designation and was commended for its efforts in improving employee health and wellness in Catawba County, North Carolina.

The WellBusiness program is in its fourth year of recognizing local businesses for their efforts in employee wellness. In order to be eligible, companies were required to submit an application documenting the wellness practices in their workplace, and be located in Catawba County. The designation was open to businesses of all sizes and budgets across all industries, with consideration for these factored into the final lineup of recognized companies. Of the recipients, the WellBusiness Advisory Council stated that “companies of all sizes demonstrated their commitment to meeting proven worksite wellness standards in policy and organizational support, tobacco use, nutrition, physical activity, and prevention, screening and early detection support.”

As a bronze designation WellBusiness company, Shurtape will receive publicity and advertising around the program, an award certificate and banner, access to technical resources and networking events, as well as the right to market itself as a WellBusiness recipient in recruitment and other promotional efforts.

“We are proud to be recognized as one of the top companies in the county for supporting employee health and wellness,” said Kimberly Edwards, Welfare Benefits Manager, HR at Shurtape. “Shurtape is dedicated to continuously improving these efforts through programs and resources that promote the healthy lifestyles of our workforce – on and off the job.”

WellBusiness is facilitated by Health First Center of Catawba Valley and comprised of volunteer representatives from area hospitals, healthcare providers, nonprofits, businesses, service agencies, and local government. For more information about the program, visit WellBusinessCatawba.com.
