Renewable and Recycled Content in Our Products

Additionally, by focusing on Securing Sustainable Lifecycles, we ensure adherence to ethical and environmentally conscious business practices throughout our supply chain. We do this by using more renewable and recycled resources in the beginning-of-life, ensuring the useful-life is easy to implement and reliable and improving end-of-life by being more responsible through tape use or recyclability.

What are Renewable Materials?

Proportion, by mass, of natural raw materials and renewable raw materials:

  • Natural raw materials are resources found in nature, which are used to make manufactured goods and can include mined raw materials, plant-based materials or animal-derived products. Examples include:
    • Rocks and minerals – minerals, lime, sand and soil
    • Animal-derived products – fats/oils, leather, wool, dairy deriviatives, and other by-products
    • Materials derived from oil/petroleum products and natural gas will not be considered a natural raw material
  • Renewable raw materials are made of natural resources (trees or plants, resins, wood, cotton and latex) which can be replenished at a rate equal to or greater than the rate of depletion (use). Examples include:

    • Bio-based plastics (from non-petroleum-based sources or from sources that qualify as a renewable material)
    • Bio-based materials (from sources that qualify as a renewable material, such as corn, cotton, bamboo, sugarcane, etc.)
    • Responsibly sourced natural rubber and derivatives (latex)

What are Recycled Materials?

Proportion, by mass, of recycled materials that are repurposed into a product or packaging. These materials may be recovered from:

  • Post-industrial waste, which refers to waste generated from the manufacturing process that led to the creation of the source material
  • Post-consumer recycled content, which refers to finished goods that are used and then recycled

Most often, recycled materials replace a portion of raw or virgin materials. Recycled materials may include:

  • Aluminum
  • Cardboard
  • Glass
  • Metal
  • Paper
  • Plastics
  • Tires
